When is Akshaya Tritiya 2022?

Akshaya Tritiya, also known as Parashurama Jayanti, is an annual festival observed by all Hindus and Jains in India. The Jains usually commemorate the first Tirthankara's ending his first year of asceticism by drinking sugarcane poured into his cupped hands. On the other hand, the Hindus celebrate the birth of Lord Parasurama, the sixth incarnation of Lord Vishnu. Who was Parashurama?

He promised to be born as a son to Renuka and Sage Jamadagni. Soon, Lord Vishnu reincarnated as the great warrior by the name Parashurama. He fought the evil king, defeated him, and destroyed his kingdom, thus restoring peace on earth.

Akshaya Tritiya comes on the third day of the Shukla Paksha in the month of Vaishakh, according to the Hindu calendar. The holiday falls between April and May of the Gregorian calendar.
